&lt;p&gt;But anyway, I agree that while there are still free alternatives for home users who want to try Linux, having the distributions begin to profit from their work is a good thing --- as long as the money goes back into development for both versions, that is!&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;I personally never liked RedHat very much, but I do admit that it is a very good operating system. I am disappointed, however, that they pulled the free version entirely. I guess now I have to start recommending Mandrake to friends who want to try Linux.&lt;/p&gt;
