I don’t know what came into me, I wanted to see what’s new on a few Ajax homepages, like Pageflakes and stuff. And my, oh my, oh my, oh my!

Please, please tell me how is this:

.. any different than this:

I can’t stand this anymore. I love the technology, I love the innovation, but I can’t stand all the discrimination, what the hell is the difference between Pageflakes and MSN?! Both are filled with absolutely useless content that looks hideous, or is it just a version bump? 1.0 to 2.0?!

I really like the fluffy colors, the big ass icons, the screencast craze, the make-your-own-blog-in-five-nanoseconds stuff, but please don’t call it something like: Blabr Flikuroo, it gets on my nervous, it’s too touchy feely.

What in the world happened to “regular” names? IBM, Sun, heck, even Microsoft is more of a real name for a company.

Phew, there you have it. Execute the brainfart, I had to get this off my chest.

Now back to my regular schedule.

This is a quote from the Sybex CCNA Study Guide by Todd Lammle. What I can’t really understand is who is this guy? and why is he underestimating his own readers?! I understand TCP/IP, subnetting and VLSM can be a little tricky, but not
to an extent where I need the writer to “ease my pain”. Maybe Todd should take a look at this.

Writing rule of thumb: Encourage your readers, don’t put them down.

I just watched House of Wax
and it’s, well to put it quite frankly, stupid! I have no idea how people can
stand watching movies like this. Aside from having the two hot Paris and Elisha,
there was nothing, I mean absolutely nothing good about this movie.

The characters basically have three abilities, scream, run like hell, act with
an attitude. Paris and Robert had absolutely no role whatsoever, well except for
the we’re-going-to-make-out-baby scene. Brian can fight like a champ after bravely
receiving two arrow in his arm and chest. People from waxy town Ambrose are were
mysteriously turned into wax figures, I can’t even think of how it ended up this way:

Waxo Smith: Hey, did you know that Wixen was found dead sitting in the church?
Waxa Green: No way Waxo, that can’t be true, I was with Wixen yesterday.
Waxo: Oh yeah, and you were doing what exactly?
Waxa: Non of your business you freak!
Waxo: You turned him into wax… bitch.
Waxa: Na’ah.
Waxo: This town is getting weird.
Waxa: Na’ah

Few days later…

Waxo: Hey, you heard about Weaxer?
Waxa: What’s up with him?
Waxo: He was found waxed to death in that restaurant.
Waxa: Nooo, I was just with him yesterday.
Waxo: Bitch.

Apply, rinse, repeat.

Trust me on this, if you like horror movies you should go for something that
at least has some sense of a story.

Well pardon my irrational sense of bad smell, I by no means am a business expert,

I know, I know. Linux is going for the enterprise, blah, blah… But wasn’t
the point of free software is to be, well, at least free (oh you
know what I mean, as in speech damn it)? I don’t want to have to ask for a
certification for my software quality which I might not get because some
incredibly ignorant manager decided that he doesn’t like my hair.

So I guess this means that if GNU doesn’t get certified by a multi-billion
dollar company we won’t have
ls
or
gzip
, right? Or
how about Apache, BIND, Qmail and Sendmail? They aren’t ready for the so-called
enterprise. Excuse my rage here, but free and enterprise don’t seem to get along
well, you can get either, but not both, at least by current standards.

Yes, UnitedLinux is a great effort,
having various standards that Linux distributions must follow
is also great, but what’s the point of having a single entity decide whether my
software (or distribution for the matter) is Linux-quality?

A call for the open source community, please don’t make this happen, IBM and
RedHat are a lot of help, just don’t let them take control.
