House of Wax

I just watched House of Wax and it’s, well to put it quite frankly, stupid! I have no idea how people can stand watching movies like this. Aside from having the two hot Paris and Elisha, there was nothing, I mean absolutely nothing good about this movie.

The characters basically have three abilities, scream, run like hell, act with an attitude. Paris and Robert had absolutely no role whatsoever, well except for the we’re-going-to-make-out-baby scene. Brian can fight like a champ after bravely receiving two arrow in his arm and chest. People from waxy town Ambrose are were mysteriously turned into wax figures, I can’t even think of how it ended up this way:

Waxo Smith: Hey, did you know that Wixen was found dead sitting in the church?
Waxa Green: No way Waxo, that can’t be true, I was with Wixen yesterday.
Waxo: Oh yeah, and you were doing what exactly?
Waxa: Non of your business you freak!
Waxo: You turned him into wax… bitch.
Waxa: Na’ah.
Waxo: This town is getting weird.
Waxa: Na’ah

Few days later…

Waxo: Hey, you heard about Weaxer?
Waxa: What’s up with him?
Waxo: He was found waxed to death in that restaurant.
Waxa: Nooo, I was just with him yesterday.
Waxo: Bitch.

Apply, rinse, repeat.

Trust me on this, if you like horror movies you should go for something that at least has some sense of a story.

Linkwhoring!

I beg you, I kneel before your host, by the names of the almighty PHP’ers, the W3C gods, and by the name of all web developers, please, please, please, don’t run links like this all over a blog post, especially not without a title.

The blog post, the page, and the page itself are all one and the same. I assure you, you only have to direct me once to any post and I’ll click, I swear to God I’ll pay a visit, just don’t keep repeating it over and over and over again. My eyes got sore from going back forth between the status bar and the post itself just so I don’t go to the same page twice. It’s not going to help anybody’s PageRank, you just have to trust me on this.

I really like you, so please don’t let me drop PHPDeveloper.org from my aggregator.

IBM and RedHat, a marketing stunt?

IBM and RedHat join forces?! Well pardon my irrational sense of bad smell, I by no means am a business expert, but when this happens, I bet you anything both companies are going after lots of bucks. My hope is that “ISDs” (Independent Software Developers) won’t have to pay royalties just to get “certified” and get a nice guy-in-a-blue-hat stamp on their site!

I know, I know. Linux is going for the enterprise, blah, blah… But wasn’t the point of free software is to be, well, at least free (oh you know what I mean, as in speech damn it)? I don’t want to have to ask for a certification for my software quality which I might not get because some incredibly ignorant manager decided that he doesn’t like my hair.

So I guess this means that if GNU doesn’t get certified by a multi-billion dollar company we won’t have ls or gzip, right? Or how about Apache, BIND, Qmail and Sendmail? They aren’t ready for the so-called enterprise. Excuse my rage here, but free and enterprise don’t seem to get along well, you can get either, but not both, at least by current standards.

Yes, UnitedLinux is a great effort, having various standards that Linux distributions must follow is also great, but what’s the point of having a single entity decide whether my software (or distribution for the matter) is Linux-quality?

A call for the open source community, please don’t make this happen, IBM and RedHat are a lot of help, just don’t let them take control.

Mini Rant: Blogbox.com

I don’t get it, if Laszlo becomes open source, why does all hell has to break loose? A search on Google or Technorati tells you how much fuzz these tiny little useless boxes have created.

What in the world happen to MT Plugins, they have tons of these so-called boxes. Why do I want a photoblox if I have Flickr, a linkblox if I have del.icio.us, a weatherblox or a clockblox when everyone is reading my blog using some news reader?!

This can’t be what Laszlo was made for, now can it? Is it all they could come up with? Bloggers don’t care about proof-of-concepts using X platform, or Y language, give them something that works and that’s it. You want to market for geeks? Give something to be proud of.

SCO WTF?!

This might sound a bit rough, so excuse the language, but seriously, WTF is this?!!
